Mom made to pay for cleaning bill of son hit by Illegal Drunk Driver in Greenville, S.C.

A mother in Greenville, who suffered a tragic lose due to an illegal immigrant who was driving drunk, has been billed for several things involving the accident, including, the clean up. According to news stories (Loretta Robinson, Grieving Mother, Billed For Clean Up After Son Killed By Undocumented Driver, The Huffington Post, June 15, 2012. Updated June 26, 2012. ). She spent a total of $15,000, including the cost of the funeral, and the cost of storing the wrecked car, towing the cars, and cleaning up the wreck (to name some).

Meanwhile, the illegal immigrant, Anna Gonzalez, did plead guilty, but has not had to pay for any of this. Not that she is not paying by being in prison, but this is absolutely adding insult to misery. Robinson's son was not found at fault for any reason, and yet, she has been paying everything for Greenville to clean up this wreck. Here's a thought, Greenville, why not make the person who was at fault pay for it and work it off if she does not have the money up front? Why does a mom, who suffered a loss such as this have to pay for a wreck that was no fault of her sons?

Even if Ms. Gonzalez is deported, she should work until she can pay every penny back to Loretta Robinson. There is no reason for the city to make a family member of the not at fault deceased to clean up a wreck that Gonzalez caused.

This accident has also brought up another question, license for illegals and deportation. It is no surprise that illegal immigrants seem to get driver licenses rather easily, even without a green card. It may be surprising to some that some dealerships (do not know which ones, and this was brought to attention in western N.C. on a local news station) have deals with some who employee illegals and basically allows them to buy or trade cars with little to no background check or documentation.

It is not that laws are not on the books for many of these problems to do with illegal immigrants (who do not need a license unless they can successfully pass a English driving test-at least knowing the signs of the road and rules and being able to drive and prove that they hold at least a green card to be in the states legally). The problem is, the rules are not enforced. To say they are not getting special treatment is wrong, because in so many ways they are. Many (not all illegal immigrants, and some who are not legal yet are going through the process to become citizens and good luck to them) are being given a lot of previleges and able to get around laws, not on purpose, but because the law makers allow it.

To make things worse the recent debate on immigration has proved how much Obama and those around him do not follow or want to follow immigration policies (which is unfair to those immigrants who came here legally). The recent Supreme Court Ruling upheld many of Arizona's immigration laws, but Obama and his administration did not care for the ruling and decided to make it clear that the "feds will not act" on the law.

In 2011, almost 30,000 incidents involved illegal immigrants who were driving drunk, "compared to 10,000" during Bush's last year in office, and only slightly over 4,000 were deporting in 2006 or 2007 for traffic violations. These numbers may not mean much, but it is clear that the Obama administration is not concerned with illegal immigration or the problems that not enforcing the laws have caused, and it really is a slap in the face to those who came to the country legally and continued to become citizens, and to those who do not receive special previlege's for being an immigrant as so many others may.

In all, hopefully, Loretta Robinson will receive the money she spent back from Gonzalez. Hopefully laws will be enforced and these types of incidents involving illegal aliens will become less and less.
